Lt.-Col. Judge Ainslie Lunham
 
 
Lt.-Col. Judge Ainslie Lunham Young born on the 23rd of August, 1868 in
Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England. He settled in the Plum Creek settlement
with his father Dr. Francis Verschoyle Young and family in 1885, as a 16
year old teenager.
He married Mary Isabel Corbet, sister of Maude Corbet, wife of W.H. Sowdenís
son Fred Sowden. Ainslie in partnership with his brother, Francis
(Barney)Verschoyle Young Jr operated a private bank in Souris. Eventually,
Ainslie became the sole owner until the banks merger with the Dominion Bank.
Ainslie was the first elected mayor of Souris, when it was established as a
municipality. The election took place on the 8th of December, 1903. He
became a Juvenile Court Judge in the 1920ís.  He died in Souris, Manitoba on
the 3rd of October, 1938 at the age of 70 and was buried with full military
honours in the Glenwood-Souris Cemetery.
Senator Kirchhoffer and Colonel Young were 2nd cousins to each other.
